My cats are messy eaters.

"My cats are messy eaters. They pick up their little kibbles and drop many of them mid bite which leaves bits of dry cat food all over the floor. Once they are on the floor, the kitty brain registers them as inedible and there they stay. With this mat they are still messy eaters but instead of having to sweep up the mess, I can simply pick up the mat and pour the mess into the waste basket. Yes, it says "Woof" but my cats can't read so they don't know they are using a mat meant for dogs. And I don't care because it works. The lip is not too high to keep them from their bowls or interfere with their ability to eat."

Our GSD is a very

"Our GSD is a very messy eater and by the end of her meal it looks like there was a small explosion in her bowl that blew her food everywhere. Same with when she drinks water - I swear more ends up on the floor than in her tummy. This 'Woof' Feeding Tray is a cute option to protect our hardwood floors. The conversation bubble shape and the large WOOF embossed in the center provides a bit of humor to what is a typically plain utilitarian object. The lip on this tray is high enough to contain even large water and/or kibble spills, and it cleans up quickly after spills or when it's time to wash it. Unfortunately, the shape is also problematic because the little hook shape at the bottom of the tray is constantly being tripped over by humans and pets. If we turn the tray to keep the little hook out of the path of feet or paws, the tray no longer fits snugly against the wall or sticks out too far (if the short end is put against the wall instead). I honestly didn't even consider this as a potential problem when I ordered this tray. The way our house is laid out (it was built 100+ years ago) there isn't a different way to position this tray so that it is flush against the wall and doesn't impede foot/paw traffic. Because cutting off the little hook piece would negate the tray's ability to hold spilled water, we've turned it into a tray for shoes and boots. it works great for this purpose, and where it's located we don't worry about bumping the little hook piece and splashing water everywhere or sending the tray across the room. You'd think that being for pets it would be designed to stay in place as much as possible, but this actually skids quite easily across hard, flat flooring even with the four little rubber circles used as footies on the underside of the tray. The footies are too small to be of much use. We ended up putting this on top of the grippy shelf liner material so that when the tray gets bumped it moves as little as possible. I'd have to give this 3. 5 stars with the ratings reduction coming from the trip hazard caused by the cute but poor design choice."

Dexter D Dogg, here once

"Dexter D Dogg, here once more to tell you why I HATE this . . . this. . . THING!Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know my Humans love it and gave it that rating up there, and if you're one of them (humans) you might agree, but let me talk to MY peep, the Canine-AmericansYou know how you, if you're anything like me, like to eat with gusto (and maybe send some pieces off to obscure corners of the room for later snacking)! This thing CATCHES it!And those pills you sometimes have to take that, if you're smart, you can. . . um. . . drop? This thing keeps it from getting lost and it can be put back into your dish! What I'm saying is, besides all the fun of this thing and its sturdiness and convenience, IT KEEPS THINGS NEAT!!!!!!"Neat" is for CATS!!!"

I didn’t realize that some

"I didn’t realize that some cats can be messy eaters until my parents adopted Angel. She is a Flame Point Siamese Cat. One summer morning, my parents discovered her begging for food at their back door; she was starving. I think her previous owners must’ve abandoned her because she sheds tremendously. She sheds at least twice more than an average cat. We brush and brush her every day and she still sheds. My parents keep Angel inside their basement garage. Angel, as I stated before, is a messy eater. I was glad when the IRIS Vine Program offered me the IRIS Feeding Mat for dogs and cats. I received the WOOF! design that is medium size, perfect for a large cat or small dog. It is gray, made of light-weight plastic, and is in the shape of a speech cloud, the type used in a cartoon when someone or something is speaking. (The “WOOF!” doesn’t frighten Angel; I guess she can’t read. ) The mat is slightly buckled or warped in the center; however it still lies relatively flat. My eighty-three-year-old dad is strong enough to lift up the IRIS Feeding Mat and dump out any spilled food. On the bottom of the mat, there are supposed to be four round rubber feet to keep it from sliding across the concrete floor on which it is kept. (One of the feet became unglued and was lost during shipping; the remaining three still manage to get the job done. ) Angel has been eating food on this mat for nearly a month without any problems. She grew accustomed to using it immediately. Dad didn’t need to train Angel or coax her into using it."

Good pet food/water tray

"I realize why the little caption horn is on the item, but it is kind of pointless. I have a towel on the tray to catch food/water so you can't even see the "wood" on the tray."

We received a Roomba for

"We received a Roomba for Christmas and needed to purchase a feeding bowl mat because it kept hitting the water dish. We also received a pet food dispenser. They both fit perfectly on the mat and the Roomba does not go up and over the lip. I do not understand why this mat was so inexpensive, but it’s perfect. Quite heavy duty and very easy to wipe up. I would highly recommend this."

All woofs aside, this is

"All woofs aside, this is a great tray for any animal food dishes. We don't have dogs, but we have 2 cats, who appear to enjoy spreading their dry food around the floor. I tell them to chew with their mouths closed, but they just don't listen. And one of them likes to step into the water dish and then walk around on the wood floor. Maybe he's leaving a path to be able to get back to the oasis, who knows. He does like me to lead him to the dish time after time. . . so maybe he forgets. As you can see in the picture, the cat food and water are on a wood floor, which has seen itself saturated by said cats who bathe in their water dish. The wood floor had enough of that, and began to just soak up the bathwater in protest - swelling and buckling in the process. Homeowner was unhappy about this. So this humble tray, which announces itself in haute dog lingo, has made our wood floor and our homeowner happy. The cats couldn't care less."

Not much to compare it

"Not much to compare it to -- it's a nice way to keep the dog's dishes together and make them look more organized, as compared to just putting them on the floor. The gray color works with my color scheme. The quote mark sticking out at the bottom is a little worrisome: it's easy for the humans to trip over it!Generally it seems sturdy, functional and decorative. Would be a terrific gift for someone who's got a new dog or cat: something most of us wouldn't think of buying but it's very useful."

Eliminated mess and danger

"My cat would stick her foot in water and I also fell slipping in it a few times. . that doesn't happen now. . I just have to wipe up tray now. . no more slipping!!"

This mat really helps keep

"This mat really helps keep my cats' water bowl and food dishes from sliding around and spilling everywhere. It contains the mess, which makes the area much easier to clean. They don't seem to mind the mat and are able to reach their bowls without any difficulties. It is a sturdy plastic and is easily cleaned. I had been keeping their food in the laundry room, to keep the kitchen floor from being cluttered with random bits of cat kibble, but I might move their food to the kitchen now that I have this."
