The IRIS Medium Wire Open

"The IRIS Medium Wire Open Pet Pen is a wonderful fenced in area to keep your animals safe while allowing them room to play. The pros are the pen is a sturdy and durable product with wire/metal walls heavy duty plastic bottom and wood accents. The pet pen is easy to assemble and very spacious when complete. The plastic base allows for easy clean up. A unique feature of this pen is the door/gate slides open to allow for easy access instead of just swinging open and closed. I have not found/seen any cons with this product."

First I'd like to compare

"First I'd like to compare this to the crate I usually keep my dog in when I'm gone. It is more sleek and I would very much rather keep this in my kitchen than the bulky typical dog crate. I think design-wise it blends in more as well. I also like that the door slides open as opposed to opening like a regular door. I don't have to worry about the door slamming and hitting the wall or anything. And also my dog can walk in and out without the door shutting on itself. It was very simple to install and required no additional tools. It took me two minutes from start to finish. I like that it comes with an extra 'clip' just in case one breaks. The material is okay. I think that the 'wood' doesn't really feel like wood. I suppose this could be so that it's more durable or less likely to be bitten up by the dog. There is enough room for my dog to lie down comfortably. I was slightly concerned when it said it was okay for medium-sized dogs as it wasn't very tall. My dog is under 40 pounds (pictured) and when sitting straight up his head is over the top. He could easily climb out. If your dog isn't a jumper and is content with sitting still then this would be an okay option for you. However my dog is a jumper so this would have to be used with someone supervising - as opposed to leaving the room or house expecting him to still be there when I come back. If there was a way to include an extra panel like the bottom one and snap it onto the top I think that would be a great solution to this issue. Overall I think it is a great product but not definitely not for every dog. If it weren't for the open top I would feel more comfortable using it."

We are using this for

"We are using this for our baby rabbit’s home-base (she roams outside of it while we are home). It is really easy to clean because of the open top, the tray keeps all mess inside the pen, and we love that it is tall enough to prevent her from jumping out. The sliding door is great for allowing her easy entry and exit. I think it’s a great home base for a small rabbit!"

I love this cage who

"I love this cage who is very easy to set up and it does not have a top on it so it makes getting in-and-out of it much easier than if you had a climbing through a Side door. It is extremely Roomy and gives the cats and dogs a lot of space depending on who is in it it is great for traveling and will be a staple in my house hold from now on my pets absolutely love it. It is also pretty and blends right in so it's not some big bulky ugly cage I love it."

Recieved this about a week

"Recieved this about a week ago after ordering it. The set up was so super simple you attach each wall an theres a little piece that snaps into the top an bottom. The cage itself fits into the bottom perfectly which makes for easy clean up if pup makes and messes. The door is perfect it's a sliding door which makes it super simple to get pup in an out of pen. The design itself is so elegant an nice. The overall structure of the pen is durable and seems it will last a very long time."

Worth the money as it

"Worth the money as it looks so nice in my apartment. Not plasticky. I have a 4lbs yorkie so this is like overkill, and visitors have called it her condo! Lol. She’s rarely in it, but I like knowing she has lots of room when I’m gone, and I bought those screw in water and food dishes which fit well in the wire walls. She can’t scratch her way out (which she did with her first pop out vinyl crate. ) at first I regretted the size but I really wanted an open top crate which this is. I know they make nice looking cozy crates with tops you can use as end tables, but I have a pretty severe spine injury so it’s much easier for me to put her in thru the top of this crate. Hard to find this design. And the door slides and locks easily. Oh and hah! No way a 4lb yorkie can jump out of this height. She’s so comfy in it that she’s quiet as a mouse and doesn’t even whine or beg to be let out. I bought a rubber back kitch/bath rug on floor, then hee round soft bed, toys and those screw in food dishes and it’s just perfect. She can hold it, but plenty of room for pee pads if needed. Highly praise and def worth the money."

Out of the box the

"Out of the box the pen is very easy to put together in just minutes. It has little bolts that keep the sides together. They lock in place tightly and keep the cage very sturdy in the plastic brown base. Once the bolts are in you can remove the wire cage from the plastic base and it can be folded flat. What's nice is that you could just take the metal cage without the base floor outside to make a little penned in area if you wanted your dog to spend a short amount of time with you outside. Also if you need to clean the base you don't have to crawl in there yourself; you simply lift off the wire part and set it aside. The cage is sturdy spacious and easy to put together. My complaint is that they call it a wood look in their description. The wire is white and the base is just a plastic beige color. The only thing that is wood looking is on the top and the bottom of the wire cage. The slats look like a light wood if you look closely. It is not a very prominent feature of the cage so it's a little misleading in my opinion. I would've preferred darker colors personally so it didn't stand out so much and didn't show dirt or spills as easily as it does. Otherwise I'm pleased with the ease of use sturdy build and ease of putting together."
