We are seeking an experienced and vigilant Information Technology (IT) security specialist who can prevent breaches of any magnitude, recognize when a breach occurs, and promptly take steps to address it.
The Information Security Specialist will design and implement security measures to safeguard the organization's computer networks, systems, and information assets.
Additionally, the Information Security Specialist will serve as an essential member of the Information Security Committee, communicating with all levels of management and staff about information security issues.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Development and maintenance of the company's information security policies and guidelines.
- Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on security threats and risks.
- Planning, coordinating, and executing incident responses.
- Recommending and assisting in the implementation of security measures.
- Conducting security audits of networks, applications, and databases.
- Communicating and collaborating on security matters with internal and external stakeholders.
- Providing security education and training.
- Selection, deployment, and management of security tools and software.
- Conducting patch management and vulnerability assessments.
- Monitoring updates in laws, regulations, and industry standards and ensuring compliance.
- Managing and implementing Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions.
- Supporting the planning and execution of security projects.
- Regularly reviewing security strategies and objectives.
- Supporting backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
- Managing the security of mobile devices and remote access.
- Provide technical support for projects for which this position is responsible.
- Effectively communicate verbally, visually, and in writing with all stakeholders and cross-departmental teams.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a computer or business-related field or equivalent experience; and,
- Five (5) years or more experience in information security management or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of:
- Strong understanding of information security framework like NIST SP800-53, ISO2700 series, COBIT.
- Strong understanding of OWASP Application Security Verification Standards
- Project Management and Software Development methods such as Agile or Scrum. Documentation and Presentation practices and principles.
- Microsoft Office, Documentation, Diagramming/Graphing, and Project/Task Management applications.
- Company facility, department, management, and employee organizational roles and responsibilities.
Skilled in:
- General experience at Servers, Network, Applications, End User Infrastructure level.
- Use of computer hardware to include computer, keyboard, and mouse.
- Use of computer software to include Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- General Business/Mathematics Skills, Analyzing Information, Problem Solving, Project Management, Documentation, and Testing Fundamentals.
Ability to:
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication.
- Prepare reports and summarize information. Collaborate and share a variety of information.
- Present information using a variety of data and varying presentation techniques.
- Demonstrate problem solving and negotiation skills.

Activities will involve frequent sitting, using a computer, analyzing large amounts of data, communicating verbally and in writing. Exerting 20- 50 pounds occasionally, 10- 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly. Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a computer, telephone, calculator, copy and fax machine requiring continuous and repetitive arm, and hand and eye movement. Move and operate presentation equipment. Travel to and from meetings and various locations inside and outside the building.

The work environment is frequently within an office setting with low to moderate noise, LED lighting, and
temperature control while working alongside large groups of employees in cubicle spaces. Incumbents will attend various business meetings and events inside and outside of the buildings and may be required to travel overnight or out of-town for work. Occasional exposure to the manufacturing and distribution plant consisting of moving mechanical parts or heavy machinery, vibrations, fumes, unpleasant odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and moderate to loud noise while in the plant or traveling for work. Work during evenings and weekends as needed.
